The weekend of 26 and 27 June
sees two NODA Area Conferences, giving local amateur theatre enthusiasts a
chance to network and to discuss issues of concern.

The Day includes workshops on Pantomime Make-Up, Wigs, Lighting
Design, Salsa Dance, Vocal Technique and Marketing, followed by the Southern
Area Annual General Meeting, Awards Ceremony and Evening

AMATEUR THEATRE
WEEK
Thank you to those groups who
have already responded about the first ever national Amateur Theatre Week,
taking place from Saturday 23 to Saturday 30 October 2004.
There has been a slight delay
in launching the dedicated Amateur Theatre Week website (www.amateurtheatreweek.org.uk), which will contain details of how to
register, a list of participating events, downloadable advice packs and logos,
and other useful information. We hope to be able to launch it later this
month.

YOUTH
MUSIC
Youth Music has four funding
programmes open for application. Grants of between £1,000 and £20,000 are
available to non-profit making organisations to work with children and young
people over a period of three to eighteen months.
The four Open Programmes are:
First Steps - Developing 0-5 year olds through music, with training for parents
and carers; Music Maker - Music-making in any style or genre for 5-18 year olds,
or up to 25 year olds with special needs; Plug into Music - Developing music
technology skills for 5-18 year olds. Singing Challenge - Encouraging new and
exciting ways of singing for 5-18 year olds.
All organisations in receipt of
Youth Music funding must include a trainee or peer-mentoring programmes.
Applications are assessed on a rolling basis but you should allow approximately
three months for a decision.

OPERATIC AND DRAMATIC SOCIETY
THE PYJAMA
GAME
College Amateur Operatic and
Dramatic are performing 'The Pyjama Game' this year. We are sure you will be
familiar with "Hey There (you with the stars in your eyes)", "I’m Not At All In
Love", "Hernando’s Hideaway", "Steam Heat" and "Once a Year Day". The story
takes place in the "Sleep Tite" pyjama factory where the Shop Steward - Babe,
falls in love with the Work’s Manager – Sid, with many pitfalls and laughs along
the way.
'The Pyjama Game' will be
performed at the Kenneth More Theatre from Wednesday, 14th July to Saturday,
17th July 2004 at 7.45pm, and there will be a matinee at 3pm on the Saturday.
