Palace Theatre News - 24th October 2006

 

Showing the ground works for the slope and step access to the main entrance. The brickwork was completed on Friday 20th and awaiting steps and concrete for slope. JCB brought in Monday 23th for installation of new larger power supply.

The Purple theme continues!

Decorating is nearly complete in bar and Auditorium with new light fittings in place. The Auditorium has since been cleared and boarding put down in front of the stage ready for the carpet fitting in the next week.

 

The orginal window at the rear of the auditorium is still visible. Blinds will soon be fitted.

This picture shows the size of the air intake pipes which enter the auditorium under the front of the stage.

 

 

The Theatre technical staff have re-fitted the pulleys and ropes above the stage and are planning to re-hang the fire curtain this week.

All the inside and outside scaffold has been removed and a new fire door installed in the Auditorium stage right. The building is beginning to look like a Theatre again and once the carpet and seating have been installed the majority of the project will be complete.

 

 

 
 

 

All work by ROK should be finished by early December when the stage equipment will be re-installed. No decission has has been made as to who will operate the Theatre when it re-opens in April 2007, however the Council has re-invited all those interested to retender of the operation and management of the Theatre.
