Whilst not being able to achieve
charitable status for itself Paignton Pantomime Productions has a proud history
of donating money to various charitable organisations since it's first
production in 1935.
Some years have proved more difficult to
dispense such donations than others as when harsh economic conditions threatened
the Society's very existence. However in 1984 the Committee decided that it was
time to put charitable support on a firmer footing and from that time a specific
charity has been nominated for each production. This allows the organisation
collecting rights at the end of each performance and at the end of the run the
amount collected from the audience is boosted by a significant donation from the
Society's own funds. In recent years the serving Mayor of Torbay has kindly
presented the cheque on behalf of the Society to a representative of the charity
on stage after the final performance.
With the introduction of this website the
public will be able to gain a greater insight into the work of the nominated
charity and as a result may wish to bolster their funds by sending a donation
direct to the charity at any time of the year. |
