CHARITY
NUMBER 282723
Rowcroft Hospice has been celebrating its
21st birthday in 2003, since opening in 1982 with just 7 beds and enough funds
to stay open for only 11 weeks. From
these small beginnings, the community has taken the hospice forward over the
years to care for thousands of patients who have needed our physical, emotional
and spirital support.
The services we now provide include:
In-patient care - An 18 bed unit for pain
& symptom control, respite and terminal care. Day Hospice - Day care,
helping patients and families come to terms with illness in a loving and
supportive environment.
We also offer a hospice at home service,
community specialist palliative care nursing and a lymphoedema clinic. Additional support comes from social workers,
physiotherapists, occupational therapist, chaplaincy, music and craft
therapists, as well as scores of volunteers with their own unique skills.
As an independent charity, it now costs over
£3 million a year to provide these
services free of charge to the local
community.
Our collectors at the performances are from the Paignton
Branch of the Friends of Rowcroft. The
Friends have now raised over £2 million since they started fundraising in
1981. Our thanks to them all for their
invaluable support over the years and to the South Devon community who always give so generously to
the hospice to ensure we have enough funds every year to carry on with our
work.
