Aladdin 2003 Production Zone

Well here we are, March 2004 and hot on the heels of the last show already looking forward to the next. These pages were intended to give a flavour of the hard work surrounding each pantomime. Time overtook me however and I have been unable to deliver all that I hoped I would be able to. I shall add whatever I can to the pages and if I get enough tme and sufficient interest, will compile some fresh pages for the next production. In the meantime, please browse these pages and enjoy what content there is.

This is a totally new idea for the website which I hope proves popular.

Content for the above linked pages is being prepared at the moment and by its very nature will be displayed as a gradual process. I felt this was an area worth exploring as each season a new pantomime is produced for your pleasure yet few people outside of the Society realise quite how much effort is involved in the process.

As you may realise, the cloths (backdrops), some of the scenery and major costumes are all either owned by the Society or are hired in for the occasion. However, volunteers undertake the work to provide additional props, scenery and costumes and it is this area of the production which will be highlighted on these pages.

I gained an insight last year when visiting those involved only to find that it had completely taken over their homes to the extent that each looked like theatre workshops.

The mix of skilful performers, dazzling and often ingenious scenery, props and costumes complement each other allowing you to be whisked away to a fairytale world where you can immerse yourself for a while.

This new section will chart the progress of these complimentary works from design concept through potential teething problems and on to final realisation.

Clicking on each of the satellite buttons above will take you to various areas of interest.

I hope you find this as interesting as I do and that it will add to your enjoyment of the show.

Enjoy the journey.
