Aladdin 2003 Weekender preview

Group breaking new ground

Paignton Pantomime Productions has broken with tradition this year - with Jonathon Hunt, playing Aladdin as the group's first-ever male principal boy. Jonathon, an experiencedperformer, appears alongside talented Sarah Caplan who is playing Princess Jasmine.

Other Principals include Jo Matthews as The Empress, Dennis Wenman as Widow Twankey, Miles Opie as Genie of the Lamp while Richard Thomas and Matt Bones play Wishee Washee and The Inspector respectively.

Rae and Colin Gilderthorp who complete the cast as Slave of the Ring and Abanazer are equally well known for their prowess at prop production. They have even built an all-weather 'Scenery Dock' in their back yard - let no-one doubt their enthusiasm.

Extra vitality, raw energy and bursting enthusiasm are provided by an excellent troupe of dancers and chorus.

The show is directed by Iain Douglas, musical direction by John Amery and choreography is conducted by Elaine Johnson and Amanda Read, so Aladdin is set to be an even better success than last year's show. Amateur in name but professional in execution, this is one pantomime you should not miss.

Aladdin opens at the Palace Theatre, Paignton on 22nd December and runs until 3rd January
